Setting Up Your Store and Training Your Employees to Make Quick Transactions

  • In frontline retail, you want your customers to get what they need as fast as they can, while still maintaining a great customer experience. To do this, there are some specific techniques you can focus on as a manager to help customers make their purchases faster. In this topic, we’ll cover how you can prepare the store before peak hours, how to help your sales associates use cross-selling and/or upselling to increase sales, and how you can help sales associates speed up transaction times by planning extra services and promotions.

    1. Schedule your strongest salespeople when the store is busiest. This way, they will finish sales quicker and keep traffic in the store flowing.

    2. Instruct your team to clean and organize the store when it’s less busy. This way, when there are more customers in the store, your team can focus on helping customers with their transactions.

    3. Ask your team to greet customers within ten seconds of them entering the store, so customers know they are ready to help them right away.

    4. Be sure to order frequently used items such as bags, cash register paper, and gift cards when traffic is low. This way, when the store gets busier, your team can keep helping customers pay for their transactions without being delayed.
