What are the Different Face Shapes?

  • A person’s face shape includes their cheekbones, forehead, and jawline. When it comes to face shapes, there are seven types you should be aware of: oval, round, square, rectangle, heart, diamond, and triangle. In this topic, you’ll learn how to quickly identify each face shape so you can better deal with a customer in your store to offer them the best product recommendations for their face.

    1. A customer’s face will often have features of multiple face shapes. Choose the face shape that best represents most of them to make informed product recommendations.

    2. Oval faces are longer than they are wide. The forehead is the widest part of this face shape, and these people typically have a round jawline and chin.

    3. Round faces are short; they have the same length from the nose to all sides of the face. The widest part of this face is the cheekbones; the forehead and jawline are similar widths.

    4. Square faces are as long as they are wide. They have a wide hairline and a strong, angled jawline. The forehead, cheekbones, and jawline are about the same width.

    5. Rectangle (also called narrow) faces have similar features as a square-shaped face. However, they’re longer than they are wide, and the forehead, cheekbones, and jawline are around the same width.

    6. Heart faces have a narrow chin and may have a pointed hairline. They have a tapered jawline, and the cheekbones and forehead are the widest parts of the face.

    7. Diamond faces are a variation of heart-shaped faces. They have a pointy chin, high cheekbones, and typically have a narrow forehead. This means the cheekbones are wider than the forehead and chin.

    8. Triangle faces have a narrow forehead and a wide, square jawline or flat chin. The jawline and cheekbones are wider than the forehead.
